FAQ
Have questions about site grading, septic permits, or concrete placement? Here are answers to our most common client inquiries.
According to standard building codes, the ground immediately surrounding your foundation should slope downward at a minimum of 6 inches within the first 10 feet (roughly a 5% slope). This ensures rainwater flows away from the slab, preventing soil saturation and hydrostatic pressure against your foundation walls.
Yes, a soil percolation (perc) test is mandatory in Georgia before installing a septic system. A perc test measures how quickly soil absorbs liquid. The results determine if your soil can support a traditional septic field, or if a specialized system (like an engineered drip system or mound system) is required by your county's Environmental Health Department.
We recommend waiting a minimum of 7 days before parking or driving normal passenger vehicles on new concrete. While concrete reaches about 70% of its structural design strength in the first 7 days, it takes a full 28 days to cure to its maximum design load capacity. Heavy trucks or equipment should keep off the slab for the full 28 days.
